Why I Prefer Two Monitors Over One Ultra-Wide #videoediting
Просмотров 4428 дней назад
I'll tell you why I prefer two 27 inch monitors instead of an ultra wide. Ultra wide monitors often lack the vertical resolution I need, especially for video editing. I had to return mine because it didn't give me enough vertical space to work efficiently. Having two monitors side by side gives me the height I need for stacking multiple video tracks. Why YouTube Tags Don't Matter with Chris Menard #youtubetips
Просмотров 7899 дней назад
It's true, RUclips doesn't put much stock on tags anymore. A lot of people think tags are crucial, often due to the emphasis from various tools. But in reality, I've seen videos with no tags still become super popular. Tags are just minor suggestions to help with spelling variations in search, not a magic formula for popularity. Starting on YouTube: Aim for Consistency, Not Virality #youtubetips
Просмотров 3217 дней назад
Everybody aims for the extremes in online content creation, thinking they'll go viral and be special. When they don't achieve that, they get discouraged and quit. My advice is simple: focus on the day-to-day and aim to create a hundred videos first. Consistency over everything! Featuring @ChrisMenardTraining
Dear cristi, show step by step how to do this in other languages, I don't know how to use the language code, so please make a video and show me Please. my mother language is kannada so how to use this language? please help me
At the moment it's not possible to specify the language I think, it auto-detects it. Techsmith have confirmed that it detects the language and correctly transcribes in that language but I'm not sure if it supports kannada. It is whatever the "whisper ai" supports. Whisper is the engine that transcribes. Have you tested by adding an audio file in that language?
@@Graphicious No
Can I mention channels again after my 7 day community guideline penalty ends? I’m currently going through my first strike so I have to wait 4 more days to upload again!
I honestly am not sure about this. Have you checked the documents on the help pages to see what are the limitations for this functionality following a strike?
Thanks for the video! I imported a MS Teams meeting recording into Descript. I identified my speakers and all looks good. However, it came in as one track, which I assume it's supposed to do, but is it possible to make it mult-track (or multi-cam) so I can do better editing (such as when speakers talk over each other, etc)?
If you don't have the separate audio tracks from Teams, you can't separate them in Descript, I'm afraid. I know Zoom gives you separate tracks for each person (if you enable it before recording), but I'm not sure if Teams does.
Thanks for this video!
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much bro, i learned one new thing today
Happy to help
Where can I find the full interview?
ruclips.net/video/8YuwF4oDH9I/видео.html
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you.
Glad I could help!
This was super helpful, thank you! I was getting a blank, black video screen when I added new words, and it was really frustrating! But making that edit properly works like a charm!
Awesome, glad to hear that and specially since this is a very old video :D
You can also use the format painter tool same result if you already have text on the document, if you copy and paste text on to the document and the format doesn’t stay consistent with the text already on the document use the format painter tool
Thanks, I didn't know that.
super helpful!
Glad you think so!
Thank you...so easy to understand!
You are welcome!
Omg, it’s so simple, when you know how 😉 Thank you!!
You’re welcome 😊
This video was a huge help; thank you so much! Your videos are definitely helping me get a handle on using Descript!
I'm very pleased to hear that, thank you!
Thanks so much, Cristi. Very helpful, precise, clear and complete.
Glad it was helpful!
What the hell is he on about? 5120*1440 is literally the exact same height as 2560*1440 it's just two 1440p screen panels together with no seem. 7680*2160 also exist? This is just nonsense. 16:9 panels unless you're going really high like 5k+ have the exact same vertical resolution as their 21:9 and 32:9 counter parts. If you want more vertical resolution buy a creator monitor that's 16:10 or even 3:2. Here's another idea, turn your 16:9 monitor 90°. Wow, now you have 2160*3840, that's an enormous vertical amount of pixels.
Actually, 4K, vertically is 2160 (twice the 1080, no?) So a 5K2K is 5120 x 2160. 1440 is quite a lot shorter. I used a widescreen 'gaming' monitor and I returned it immediately. It might be ok for gaming, but not practical for editing work. It was a Samsung Odyssey G9 I think.
@@Graphicious Your reasoning doesn't even make sense in the first place. The amount of extra work space you get from a higher resolution is negligible due to you having to use scaling or else everything on the monitor is too small to read anyways. The reasoning is literally just "I like to put my monitors vertical so a widescreen doesn't make sense" You could have just said all that instead of blapping about nothing lol
Agree to disgree. Everyone have their own workflow. Good luck with yours.
@@Graphiciousbro gave him the I have no enemies treatment 👏🏼 clap 👏🏼
Awesom video, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Amazing. I suggest you add some keywords to the description about showing two speakers or one speaker and a slide show from two different video feeds. I searched for that and this did not come up. Luckily in the FB group someone told me that this is called sequences. THANKS
thank you good man
Glad it helped
This was a great video, thanks it helped me 🎉
You're welcome!
UPDATE: The organization has changed a bit on the following: At 2:02, when you add the sequence, go to the sidebar on the right, click "Project", then in the files section, click the 3 dots and choose "Create Sequence" At 3:57, when you click "done", a window will pop up with your new sequence. Hit "Insert into Script"
Thanks! I need to re-record this video :D

Cristi, you've now come up for a few different Descript things that I've been trying to figure out how to do (I watched your sequence video like 3 times to make sure I was doing it correctly!) and I know I'm going to be met with a very clear and straightforward answer. Thank you for your work! The next Descript question I have, I'm saving myself the trouble and starting in your channel!
That is amazing to hear, thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you're finding the help you need.
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for your support!
This was super helpful dude. I have just one question, do you know where is descript executable located in windows? I followed the steps in the video, but I keep reinstalling descript every time I need to use it, because it doesn't create a shortcut in my start button or desktop :/
For me it's here: C:\Users\[Your User Folder]\AppData\Local\Programs\Descript\Descript.exe
You’re the best
Thank you!
I'm going to start making 100 videos a week, that way I can post 1, lol.
Don't overthink it. Record->Edit->Publish->Repeat.
free ? then why are microsoft charging 16 pound for it
That’s because the developer wants a little money from the app store but if you download from the site link in the description, it is free directly from the developer
How did you make your Intro video in 5 minutes?
You mean the animated logo with orange and red lines? Yeah, I did that in Camtasia. Quite easy. Would be interested in a tutorial on it?
Thanks for this - very effective. I’ve favourited for when I’m next editing! 👍
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!
@@Graphicious And I've just done my first edit using this tip. Brilliant! Thanks again. My edit is much smoother and more polished. Your video also encouraged me to double click on the timeline to edit the specific points in the audio as you suggested. Hugely useful - thanks again!! 🙏
That's awesome, glad it works for you!
I can't see clear,😢
I’m not sure how I can help with that
Thank you!!
Happy to help!
Sweet, thanks for the walk through, this was awesome. Super easy once you get used to it!
Good demos here. EXTEND FRAME was exciting to learn about, BUT it's not available in OSX.
Yeah it is, hold down Option
@@Graphicious The option click works for the last frame, I've used that before, but inside the video shift E doesn't work and right click doesn't show Extend Frame. Some features lag on OSX, this is one. No biggie, but sometimes a bit frustrating.
Oh yeah, I have a whole list of differences between Windows and Mac versions. They are NOT the same.
Thank you! Really useful!
Thanks!
Thanks for this. Question: How do you screen record yourself working on Camtasia? Do you use another software?
I record with Camtasia and edit in Camtasia. It is possible to run the recorder and show stuff in Camtasia editor at the same time.
@@Graphicious Thanks! I didn't know that was possible.
Thank you! This is very helpful. You are my go-to helper with Descript as I start my new channel. 🥰
You’re welcome 😊 Glad I can help and good luck with your new channel!
This is really great, probably my favorite tip so far, really smooths out the production, thanks my man!
Awesome, I knew you'd like it! :D
Thank you Cristi i like it
Thank you for the video! How did you make this instructional video? Exclusively use Descript? How did you sync the screen demo with your audio when editing?
I record and edit in Camtasia but Descript can do this too, except with a little less quality. Here's my workflow: ruclips.net/video/KgRVCmELc-k/видео.html
Thanks for the video, I made use of this as well
Awesome, glad to hear that. I know I need to redo this video for the new version of Descript.
I use this video all the time as a refresher when it has been awhile. thanks. :D
Happy to hear that, glad it helps!
This is an excellent video but I was wondering with the new Camtasia out can you do an update
Thank you! Even in Camtasia 2024, this particular effect is achieved the same way. Nothing has changed and no new effects have been added to make a difference for this particular use case
Thanks for this. They're starting to gauge. We're going to upgrade to Camtasia 2024 which has a lot of these features. These items seem to be "gotchas" that'll just make it not as attractive as it used to be.

Descript is practically unusable sometimes due to how poorly it's transcribed :( I think this will help, thank you.
Hope it does.
Thanks for the video Cristi. I’m still finding the template thing a bit funky. For instance, I’ve created a template with the caption design I want, but it also saved the video clip. So now when I apply the template, it applies the clip. Should I go back into the template and delete the vid clip?
Is the video clip in the template on a separate layer or is it part of the script track?
@@Graphicious Seperate layer
In that case it’s safe to delete it
@@Graphicious Ok, thanks.
Good exppanation, @12:17 you show a blue slide with bullet points, did you do it in descript ?
Thank you. I did that in Camtasia but you can do it in Descript also.
Nice info. How did you shoot this video by making yourself in front of the video, sometimes becoming small and other times large. Is this possible in descript ?
I did that in Camtasia also, but you can also do it in Descript. Here's how to do it in Camtasia: ruclips.net/video/KgRVCmELc-k/видео.html
Thanks for the reminder about how to do this! (I forgot that "alignment" was the term to search for.) 🙃
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you still found this useful. I think I'll need to create an updated version for Underlord, but the workflows are the same.
